I stopped at the spotlight
in the middle of the night
To my right is history
To my left the choice i think is right!!!
The corner nightlamp glimmers along
the flickering shadow of the banyan dances around me
Heart said follow the dark
If its the light you seek to see.
The step ahead plummets me to the heights unknown
Words belonged to you,But thoughts were my own
Its better to be lonely than to be lost
They were always your dreams I dreamt about the most.
I have been knocking on your door since long,
and I can knock some more
But I need to know you are still inside, coz
my sanity has died and washed ashore.
Love is not love which alters
When alteration it finds.
Wise men say its never bout the heart
always bout the minds!!!!!!!!
in the middle of the night
Is it always about the mind ??
ReplyDeleteLoved the poem, evoked many emotions in me...
Take Care
dear fatima,
ReplyDeleteThat is what the wise men say,not people who have their thinking caps on their heart.
thanx for reading..
First, I LOVE your header photo - did you take it? That is a way cool setting and composition. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAs I was reading, I remembered being young, remembered the intersection where you can either follow the old patterns or go somewhere new. LOVE "It is the light you seek". Yes.
Loved this. So nice to have come across you through Poets United. It is a great community! And you are welcome!
hi sherry,
ReplyDeleteits so great to visit my space..about the photo you love so much, its taken by one of my friend wholoves photography.
This is taken in a place in India called Pondicherry.
hope it keeps bringing you back here.
happy writing.
Dear Asteria, this is my first visit to your blog, one of the many benefits of deciding to hang in the Real Toads Garden for April's NaPoWriMo. Have to agree with Sherry - the photo is amazing. My friend George actually visited Pondicherry last year, on his "world sojourn."
ReplyDeleteOK, I know I'm knew, but you asked for input about the title. First, one thing: Might I suggest keeping the punctuation to only one exclamation point? It distracts the reader from the actual poem.
Second, for a title (and I'm pretty good in that department, even though I was the only one to use the Wordsworth quotes to write about a heroin addict!), how about "Hearts and Minds," as one is subject to whimsy and the second to wisdom... and often, they meet to form the right balance?
Hope you don't mind my extra little critique. This poem is wonderful - soul-searching, soulful, and brimming with life. Thanks, glad to meet you! Amy
welcome amy, im glad you took time and read along and no I dont mind the critique in fact I appreciate the comment. I think I may have found the title.
DeleteYou give us a lot to ponder... I think it's about both heart and mind. Oh! And bodies! ;-)

haha, may be Kim.
DeleteI really like the idea that it is better to be lonely than lost; and you know, I think I agree with it! I also agree with the idea that love is NOT love that alters. But I disagree with the 'wise men.' I think love is about heart and mind.
ReplyDeletehey Mary,
Deleteeven I disagree with wise men. Its always about hearts.
