The Good in me, the good in you.

I am having a hard time remembering where I read this simple yet elegant quote that your character is defined by the things you do when no one is watching you.
I write, when no one is watching me, I feel uninhibited when I have a pen(yeah,I still like old school way of writing on paper and pen).
First of all I am thrilled to receive this tag (nope, not the infamous Facebook tag) given by The Fool, and Im sure I dont need to introduce him to the blog world.
My affair with writing started at an early age. I was in fifth standard, I got inspired by the kid in a movie called Kitaab, where he used to pen down his daily activity. I started keeping my own little note book(the kind our parents used to note down the phone numbers in).
The headboy of our class, who was otherwise a very well-mannered guy found my notebook and read it out aloud in front of my whole class, making fun of me. I was in tears. I promised myself I would write so well, that my teacher will give me 3 stars..(that was the extent of my writing dreams at that stage).
Pre-Boards were a night mare at that time also, and mine were not different. The topic for the creative writing portion in English Language was, "The best things in life are free." This was the write-up which catapulted me from an average student to teachers' pet, and my english teacher Mrs Jayshree Chatterjee, a self confessed lucknawi bong, encouraged me to major in English.
Over the following heavy-weighted academic years of 10th,12th NIE or newspaper in education, a TOI initiative gave us the best platform to pour our hearts out. The teen magazine of TIMES OF INDIA, became our alter-ego and till the time I left for my medical college I was already proud writer of 12-13 published articles in The Times.
Now a lot of people always tell me that they are glad to know a doctor who writes, let me clarify one misconception that Doctors cant do anything else except doctoring.. Medicos are the most creative people I have met(and I am not at all being partial to my fraternity). So the college magazine once again gave an outlet to the writer in me to the extent that I was the unopposed English editor for the same.
I started blogging when I was not aware of its power. It was only last month when I joined Indiblogger and am I glad or AM I GLAD?? I met such wonderful people out here who helped me a lot to improvise my skills as a blogger. The fool, Leo, The solitary writer, C.Suresh, to name a just few.
Now I am given the responsibility to pass on the tag to the fellow bloggers and that was the reason for the delay coz to find out 5 bloggers out of all eminent writers out here was not an easy task. And even tougher was to name my own posts as most beautiful and other similar titles.

CATEGORY 1-YOUR MOST BEAUTIFUL POST-Well to be honest I like all my posts, come on thats like asking a mom to choose her favourite kid.. But just for the ske of answering I find my poem "An ode to the moon." most beautiful because that one was written with a lot of passion and in some real tough times.

CATEGORY 2-YOUR MOST POPULAR POST-Aaahh!!! this was easy, though the reason for its popularity is a bit shady but then again, it became popular..."Alcoholed discussion" has been the most popular post and the only reason for it being most popular is because it included alcohol, spirited discussions.....the after effects of alcohol...and the fact that it came from a girl added to the zing.

CATEGORY 3-YOUR MOST CONTROVERSIAL POST-This one goes hands down to 21-12-12 and I dont need to explain why..There are so many POV's on the thing called religion..We have agnostics, atheists, religious fanatics..and others I have had more discussions privately and on messages on this one. People ask me whether I believe in doomsday or god...my answer..well...

CATEGORY 4-YOUR MOST HELPFUL POST-I am amazed that among all my posts , I have not written a single post which can be called helpful, atleast not text book help. But since I have to mention one I like "spiritual awakening" quite a lot, mainly because its a nudge toward the spiritual you.

CATEGORY 5-A POST WHOSE SUCCESS SURPRISED YOU-When I was writing "Dreams in violet" I was sceptical. But somehow it settled well with the readers.

CATEGORY 6-A POST YOU FEEL DID NOT GET THE ATTENTION IT DESERVED.
My fav post in my whole blog is "Neophytes" ,, because every time I read it I feel the message should reach everyone of us. Its just a little closer to the truth. But it hasnt got that many reviews I expected.

CATEGORY-7-I AM REALLY PROUD OF THIS POEM-"Ashes" this has to be the one.

Now the tough part starts, to pass on the tag to 5 people. I wanted to read more blogs before passing on this tag, but my laziness and irregular schedule got the better of me. So here are few people I would love to mention.

RENU SETHI- This girl is in love with love, she churns out amazing love stories. And now soon she will have a published one in her kitty.

THE SOLITARY WRITER-I met him in virtual world, and soon followed a rendezvous including him and other bloggers , that too with Lewis Hamilton!!!!!!! I like his ideas and style both.

HARSHAL GUPTA-I had the pleasure of being introduced to him in person as well and the charm he exudes in real life spills over in his writings as well.

LEO-Once again I dont need to introduce this one in the blog world. I love the way he paves the base to build up his main framework. Great reading him.His poetry speaks for himself.

NEO-He is some one I have known for a bit longer than I have known blog-o-sphere. This guy has an opinion on everything (we all do) but its fun to read his satire and you will lose yourself in his self-questioning articles. I hope his circle expands with this tag.

PHEW!!! I am done .....all of the above people are free to accept or reject the tag...:)
happy blogging.

  3. People do have that opinion about me, er.. Just saying ;)
Thank you! And if I'm permitted to say this, 'Spiritual Awakening' would be a favorite.
Sorry, I did read the post before, but had no idea about "accepting the tag" part; knew to me. Appreciated, with utter honesty. I mean, come on, feeling honoured and in denial? :D

    Thanks again!
